Leo: Worst fears about the action drama coming true

Mawin

A few days back, we reported that the Telugu and Tamil films are losing out on the Hindi market due to their OTT deals. The national chains (PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis) and a few other multiplexes will screen the Hindi version of only those films that ensure a minimum 8-week gap between the theatrical and OTT release.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo is one of the biggies coming from South India, and the latest reports suggest that the makers have struck a deal with Netflix, as per which the film will arrive on the OTT platform before 8 weeks. This means Leo’s Hindi version, too, won’t be released in multiplexes.

This is a big blow to the action drama as it will cause a significant dent in collections. Leo has good hype all across, and if the film gets a good release in Hindi, it might rake in decent numbers. Generally, the business of South films in the Hindi belt is driven by these multiplexes, and hence, fans are worrying about the Hindi collections. Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, releases on October 19.
